The McLaughlin company, established in 1867, initiated the
manufacture of original cars with Bu-ick engines in December 1907. In 1918, the firm was taken
over by General Motors USA, and the trademark was changed from McLaughlin to
McLaughlin Buick in 1924. Cars were produced under that name until 1942. Production was resumed after
the war, but under the Buick brand (1951-72, 1974-79, and again since 1987). The LaCrosse / Allure sedans have
been produced since August 2004 (in Canada only). The last Century was produced in
the years 1996-2004, and the last Regal - in 1997-2004.
