Founded in 1969, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (called Second Auto Works until 1992) started producing trucks in 1974 and passenger Shen-long hatchbacks in cooperation with Dongfeng--Citroën (see - Shenlong and Dongfeng Citroën) in 1992. In September 2002, Donngfeng Motor Corporation and Nissan established a 50% / 50% part­nership under the Dongfeng Motor Co. The restyled Fengxing LZ 6460 Q8 / Fengxing LZ 6500 Q8 versions with a 2.4-liter 126 hp engine came out in 2003. Chinese competition for the Ame­rican Hummer - the Dongfeng EQ 2050 / EQ 2058 Tiejia - was presented at the 2002 Beijing Motor Show. The vehicle with a 140 hp unit (EQ 2050) or a 6.5-liter 195 hp unit (EQ 2058), has been pro­duced since 2004 in the estate, cabrio, 5-seat pick-up and pick-up body versions. The 5-seat EQ 1021 Xingtianyou pick-up (with a 92 hp engine) has been produced since May 2001. In May 2005, the new 50% / 50% partnership between Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Yuan Group, under the Dongfeng Yuan Automobile Co. Ltd. name, launched the small Xiaokang EQ 6380 LF minivan with a 970-ccm 68 hp, a 1051-ccm 52 hp, a 1310-ccm 82 hp, or a 1320-ccm 69 hp engine. In 2003, Dongfeng pro­duced 473,012 Dongfeng utility vehicles and Dongfeng, Dongfeng Citroën, Shenlong and Nissan pas­senger cars.
