Originally, Jinbei GM produced Blazer SUVs and three consecutive generations of the S10 pick--ups under the Chevrolet make between 1992-2004. Since 2004, 50% of Jinbei GM Automoti­ve Co. Ltd has belonged to Shanghai GM, 25% -to GM China, and 25% - to SAIC Motors. Since August 2004, Jinbei GM has been called Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors Co. In October 2000, Shanghai GM started the trial production of the small Buick Sail SGM 7160 sedan, based on the Brasilian Chevrolet Corsa, followed by series pro­duction started in April 2001. The Buick Sail S-RV station wagon version came out at the end of 2001. The Sail and Sail S-RV have been produced by Shanghai GM Dongyue Motors since April 2003. The restyled Sail SGM 7165 sedan and the Sail S-RV station wagon with a 1.6-liter 90 hp unit, for the first time unded the Chevrolet make, debuted in February 2005. Production of the Epica sedan with a 2.0-liter 128 hp engine started in March 2005. The Aveo II with a 1.4-liter and a 1.6-liter power plant was first presented at the 2005 Shanhgai Motor Show.
