The military 7319 plant (since 1996 - Changfeng Auto
Manufacturing) started producing crosscountry vehicles in 1988. They were the CJY 6420 / CJY 5020 under the Beijing BJ
2020 license. In 1995, the firm signed a
contract with Mitsubishi to produce the 5-door, 7-seat 4x4 Pajero 1991 station wagon. The first 200 vehicles, called the
Liebao CJY 6421D / CJY 6421A, were assembled in 1995. The original, open CJY 6470E (since
2004 also as the CFA
2030C / CFA 2030D with a 3.0-liter 181 hp engine) came out in 1999, and the 7-seat estate body
versions: the 4x2 - CFA 6470G (a 2.35-liter 125 hp unit), 4x4 - CJY 6470E / CFA 6470F / CFA 6470H (a
2.35-liter 125 hp engine), and the 4x4 - CFA 2030A/B (a 3.0-liter 177 hp V6 power plant, 170-180 km/h) were
introduced in 2000. The Feiteng CFA 6400 SUV (a 2.0-liter 116 hp engine, 155-165 km/h) under the
Mitsubshi Pajero I0 license, debuted at the 2002 Beijing Motor Show and went into production in 2002. The Black Warrior
SUV, under the Mitsubishi Pajero 1997 license, came out in 2002. It is offered in the 4x4 -CFA 2030C / CFA
2030D version with a 3.0-liter 181 hp V6 plant (160-164 km/h) or the 4x2 - CFA 6470L / CFA
6470M version with a 2.35-liter 125 hp unit. The Xianfeng CFA 2030E / CFA 2030F SUV,
presented at the 2004 Beijing Motor Show, has been produced since 2005. It is the Pajero 1997 with a completely
new front and a 3.0-liter 177 hp V6 engine. The 5-door Pajero CFA 2031B with a 3.0-liter
181 hp unit, for the
first time under the Mitsubishi make, was released in December 2004. It is identical to
the latest Japanese Pajero CK of 2002. The avant-garde C1 SUV with a 2.0-liter 116 hp engine, presented
at the 2005
Shanghai
Motor Show, is to be produced as of 2006. The XGN NEV-2 electric sedan concept car made
its debut at the 2004 Beijing Motor Show. Mitsubishi owns 20% of the shares in Hunan
Changfeng Auto.
