Xian Qinhuan Automobile (until 1997 - Xian Qinchuan Development) debuted in 1990 with the origi­nal, small Beifang QCJ 7050 vehicle. The Xian Alto QCJ 7080, under the license of the Suzuki Alto 1985-90, was produced from 1992 to October 2001. At the 1996 Beijing Motor Show, the firm pre­sented its own Beifang Xiaofuxing QCJ 7085 model, which was produced between 1998-99 as Qin­huan Xiaofuxing QCJ 7088. The QCJ 7090 prototype was presented in 1999. In 2003, BYD Company Ltd (battery manufacturer since 1995) took over 77% of the Xian Qinhuan Automobile shares from NO-RINCO and changed its name into BYD (Bi Ya Di) Auto Co. Ltd. The new Taichuan QCJ 7081 Fulaier (Flyer) hatchback debuted in September 2001, and was replaced with the modernized Fulaier Fuxing (Flyer Lucky Star) in the QCJ 7081 BD (a 796-ccm 40 hp engine, 118 km/h), QCJ 7081 DD (a 796-ccm 51 hp plant, 130 km/h), QCJ 7081 BD1 (a 870-ccm 41 hp unit, 125 km/h) and QCJ 7110 (a 1.1-liter 52hp engine, 130 km/h) in October 2003. These vehicles have been sold under the BYD make

since 2004, and were restyled again in March 2005. The large F6 sedan (a 2.35-liter 136 hp engine, to be produced as of the end of 2005), the EF3 sedan (a 68 hp electric motor, to be produced as of 2006), the Fulaier Hybrid-S prototype (a 0.8-liter 40 hp plant and an electric motor of 68 hp), the F2 hatchback (a 1.3-liter 85 hp plant, to be produced as of 2006 with new body styling), the F4 station wagon (a 1.6-liter 100 hp unit, to be produced as of 2006 with new body styling), and the ET electric minivan concept car ET debuted at the 2004 Beijing Motor Show. The F3 sedan with a 1.6-liter 100 hp engine was first presented at the 2005 Shanghai Motor Show, and went into production in July 2005.
