Founded in February 2002, the partnership of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co and Hyundai Motor (50% / 50%) started producing the Sonata sedan with a 2.0-liter 137 hp engine (the BH 7200A version) and a 2.7-liter 178 hp unit (the BH 7270A) in November 2002. The Elantra sedan with a 1.6-liter 112 hp plant (the BH 7160A version, maximum speed 182 km/h) and a 1.8-liter 131 hp unit (the BH 7180A, 195 km/h) came out in December 2003, while the SUV Tuscon (with a 2.7-liter V6 power plant) and the latest Sonata NF were released in June 2005. In 2010, Hyundai intends to produce 600,000 vehicles in China.
