Production volume in China in 2003 - 63,217 vehicles.
Originally, under a contract signed in 1986, the Audi 100 C3 (in Germany
between 1982-90)
was
produced between 1986-98 by FAW, and between 1986-88 by Shanghai-VW. From May 1996 to 1999, FAW-VW manufactured the
modernized Audi 200. The Audi A6, produced since September 1999, was replaced with the latest,
10-cm longer Audi A6 in May 2005. The vehicle is offered with a 2.0-liter 170 hp engine, a
2.4-liter 177 hp unit, a 3.0-liter 218 hp plant, or a 4.2-liter 335 hp V6 engine. Production of the
A4 sedan cars with 1.8-liter 163 hp, 2.4-liter 170 hp, or 3.0-liter 220 hp engines (223-222-238 km/h) started in
China in April 2003.
