Production volume in Argentina in 2003 - 43,843 vehicles.
In the years 1925-78 Chevrolet
manufactured in Argentina passenger cars (from 1962 the Super and Special models).
In 1994
GM
resumed the production of pick-ups. In September 1997 the new plant in Rosario rolled
out the Corsa, since 2002 nicknamed Classic. At present, the program comprises 3-door hatchbacks,
sedans and station wagons. The Argentinian Corsa comes with 1.0-liter 70 hp (only
the sedan version), 1.6-liter 92 hp or D 1.7-liter 60 hp plants, or a 1.0-liter 64 hp
alcohol-fueled engine (only the sedan version). In 2000 GM launched the production of
the 5-door station wagon 4x2 / 4x4 Tracker (=Suzuki Grand Vitara) with 2.0-liter 128 hp or 2.0-liter 87-108 hp plants,
destined
for export to Brazil and Mexico. In April 2002 the new Corsa was released,
based on the European Corsa from 2000. The vehicle, housing a 1.8-liter 102 hp engine, or a 1.7-liter 65 hp diesel unit, is
available as a 5-door hatchback or an original sedan.
