PYEONGHWA PPEOKKUGI III / PREMIO PICKUP
In January 2000 Sun-Myung Moon and the state--owned
Ryonbong firm, both of North Korea, founded the Pyeonghwa (Peace) Motors
company. In April 2002 assembly of the Fiat Siena was launched (with a body offered in Brazil
in the years 1997-2000) with a 1.6-liter
100 hp engine under the
name Pyeonghwa Hwiparam. In August 2003 the Fiat Doblo was released with a 1.6-liter 105 hp unit under the
Pyeonghwa Ppeokkugi name. On the basis of an agreement signed in December 2003 with the Chinese
firm Liaoning Shuguang, assembly on Shuguang SUVs and pick-ups was initiated in
June 2004,
both
specially restyled for the Korean market. The SUV comes with a 2.2-liter 102 hp power plant and
is called Ppeokkugi II, while the 5-seater pick-up featuring the same engine is
known as the Ppeokkugi III or the Premio for export.
