HONKER 2000
Program: 2000 / Max.
Production volume in 2003 - 278 vehicles. FSC - Fabryka Samochodow
Ciezarowych Lublin (Lublin Truck Factory) started to operate in 1950 on the grounds of
the Chevrolet factory, construction of which was undertaken in the years 1938-39. FSC manufactured the
Lublin 51
truck (1951-59), based on the GAZ,
the Zuk delivery vans (1958-98) and the Lublin delivery vans (from 1993). The Peugeot 405 was assembled there
in the years 1993-95. In 1995 Daewoo took over 61% of FSC Lublin shares to form the Daewoo Motor Polska
partnership, and increased its stake to 72.1% in 1997, and later to 90%. Daewoo Motor Polska
manufactured the Lublin and the Zuk till 1998 and initiated the production of
the Honker in 1996. The company also assembled the following Daewoo models: Nexia (1995-98), Musso (1998-2000) and Korando
(1998-2000). In October 2001 Daewoo Motor Polska
was declared bankrupt. Andoria Mot resumed the production of the Lublin and
Honker between 2002 and 2003. At the end of 2003 the British company International Truck Alliance bought production
rights to these two models. Intrall Polska, the company’s
subsidiary, established in January 2004, continues the production of the Lublin and
Honker.
Honker 2000 / Max
The prototype of the PW1 cross-country vehicle
from 1980
was
unveiled in 1984 as the Tarpan Honker. Between 1988 and 1996 it was manufactured by FSR/Tarpan S. A. in
Poznan. DMP Lublin took over the production in 1996 and released the car under the
Honker brand name. In September 2000 the modernized Honker 2000 version was launched. The
3-door vehicle features aframe with rigid differentials and leafspring wheel
suspension. It is fitted with a Polish made Andoria TD 2.4-liter 90 hp engine and
permanent 4-wheel drive. For individual clients the model is serially equipped
with powersteering and brake assist. The Honker 2000 is a regular cross-country
vehicle for affordable money. The prototype of the Pickup version was presented
at the 2003
Poznan
Motor Show. In April 2004 the Max version had its debut. Housing an Andoria TD 2.4-liter 102 hp power plant, it
can cope with the roughest terrain.
