Production volume in Poland in 2003 - 76,506 vehicles. In the
years 1928-31
Elibor
assembled Chevrolet, Bu-ick and GMC vehicles in Poland. Later, between 1936 and 1939 Lilpop, Rau & Loewenstein company
assembled Opel, Chevrolet and Buick cars. A production facility erected in
Lublin launched the production of engi-
nes and gearboxes in 1939 and released complete Chevrolet
vehicles starting 1940. (The factory later operated under the names: FSC Lublin, FS Lublin, DMP,
Andoria Mot, Intrall Polska.) The third time that GM brought its business to
Warsaw, operating as GM Poland, was to assemble the Astra I in the years 1994-98 and the Vectra in 1998-2000. From August
1998 to June 2002, their new facility
in Gliwice rolled
out the Astra I, with an added trademark -
Classic. At the end of 1999, the plant released the first 161 units of the minivan Agila. The
Astra Classic II went into production in October 2003 and the Zafira II minivan was
launched in 2005. Since the beginning of 2005, GM Poland has manufactured the Suzuki Wagon R+. The
company intends to reach an annual production volume of 180,000 units.
