PZInz company, which manufactured the CWS T1 in
the years 1927-31, having demonstrated its prototype in 1925, signed a license agreement with
Fiat on 22
November
1931. Under this agreement
in the years 1931-39 PZInz assembled the following models of Polish Fiats: 508 I, 514, 515, 522, 524,
500, 1100, 1500 and 2800. Under the same license, the company
produced the 508 III Junak (1935-39) and the 518 Mazur (1937-39). After the war, in
the years 1967-91, FSO manufactured and assembled various Fiat models under the Polish Fiat
brand name. In 1971 a new company, FSM, launched the production of the Syrena 104. Between 1972 and 1983 FSM released the
Syrena 105.
The
Polish Fiat 126p, unveiled on 9 November 1972, was manufactured from 6 June 1973 to 22 September 2000. In the years 1987-91
the company also
released the 126p Bis version. Between 1991 and 1998 the Polish Fiat / Fiat
Cinquecento was in production. In May 1992 the Fiat concern took over FSM and changed its
name to Fiat Auto Poland, and subsequently, in 1993, changed its
trademark from Polish Fiat to Fiat. Between 1992 and 2002, the Uno was released. The
Punto, Bravo and Brava were assembled in the years 1996-2000. The assembly
operations of the Marea and Marea Weekend were launched one year later and
halted in 2000. Between 1997 and 2004, the Palio Weekend was produced and in the years 1997-2001 - the Siena. In 1998 Fiat’s
Polish facilities launched the production of the
Seicento, in 2003 - the Panda, and in 2004 – the Panda 4x4 and Panda SUV models
manufactured only in Poland. The 3-door Panda will expand the range in 2005.
