NISSAN SENTRA

NISSAN CEFIRO
Models produced in the
Philippines: Sentra, Cefiro, X-Trial, Patrol, Frontier Double Cab pick-up.
Production volume in the Philippines in 2003 - 2,940 passenger vehicles, 1,070 all-terrain vehicles
and 2,150
pick-ups.
Independent firm Universal, opened in April 1954, assembled passenger
vehicles and trucks by Mer-cedes-Benz from October 1955 until 1970, launching in 1972 production of Nissan
cars. The current program includes the Patrol with a 4.5-liter or D 3.0-liter 155 hp engine (=Japanese
Safari/Patrol GR 1997) and Frontier 4x2/4x4 pick-up fitted with a diesel 2.7-liter 84 hp or 3.2-liter 103 hp unit (=Japanese
Pickup 2001).
The
second firm, Nissan Motor Philippines, established in 1982 (since 1999 75% of this firm’s shares have belonged to the
Taiwanese firm Yulon),
launched production of the Nissan Stanza in September 1983. In the years 2000-2004 Sentra Exalta
STA/SLA (=Yulon Sentra HV 1998-2000) vehicles rolled off assembly lines. Built
starting in 2001, the Sentra Exalta HS was replaced by the newest Sentra model in
February 2004
and
fitted with 1.3-liter
95 hp; 1.6-liter 116 hp or 1.8-liter 131 hp engines (=Yulon
Sentra M1 ‘2003). The Cefiro launched in 1996 was replaced with
the newest generation Cefiro (= Yulon Cefiro SD of 2000-2004) in June 2002 with 2.0-liter 165 hp or 3.0-liter 220 hp units.
In July 2003 production of the
X-Trial SUV (2.0-liter 150 hp or 2.5-liter 180 hp) began - the model was then
restyled in April 2005. In 2001 production of the Vanette Coach minivan was terminated, following in 2002 by the AD Resort
pick-up and the Terrano SUV in 2003.
