Founded in February 1963, Chrysler Philippines assembled vehicles made by Chrysler from 1964-75 as well as the
Mitsubishi Minica and Galant under the Dodge Colt name starting in 1973. In 1972 Mitsubishi acquired 35% of the company,
increasing that share to 50% in 1985 and 51% in 1996. In 1978 the company’s name was changed
to Canlubang and in 1987 to PAMCOR, which has functioned under the current name since 1996. In the years 2001-2002 the last
Philippine
Lancer was built and in 2004 the assembly of the Galant sedan was terminated.
Promoted in 1998 and restyled in 2002 and May 2004, the Adventure is a 10-seater minivan fitted with a
2.0-liter 114 hp or D 2.5-liter 73 hp plant, based on the Indonesian Kuda model. The
program also features: the Pajero Field Master with aTD 2.8-liter 125 hp unit (=Japanese
Pajero ‘1997-99) and L200 Endeavor
4x2/L200 Strada 4x4 pick-up, an identical model to the Thai L200 pick-up. Since 2003 Lancer sedans have
been imported from Thailand. In 2006 new SUVs are slated for production for Asian, African
and South American markets.
