Production volume in Pakistan in 2003 - 17,550 passenger cars and 2,577 pick-ups. The Awami Auto Ltd. assembled in Pakistan Toyota vehicles as early as the 70s. In March 1993 a new company called Indus started the production of the Corolla sedan, which at the end of 2002 was replaced with a new model under the same name, resembling the American Corolla of 2002. The car comes with 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter petrol and a 2.0-liter diesel engine, and is made using 52,5% of Pakistani components. The program also includes the pick-up Hilux (diesel 2.4-liter 83 hp), which is identical to the Japanese Hilux produced in the years 1989-98.
