Production volume in Portugal in 2003 - 39,903 vehicles.
In 1963 the firm Ford Lusitania started the assembly of
the model named Anglia. Till 2000 this factory produced in Portugal only the Ford
Transit. The new firm called Auto - Europa was established in 1995 by Ford (50%) and Volkswagen (50%), and started the
exclusive production of the minivan Galaxy. Since the 1st of January 1999, 100% of Auto-Europa
belongs to Volkswagen, which still produces the Galaxy model.
