In 1929
Ford
started the production (initially only the assembly) of the T model in Mexico.
The assembly of the Ford Fiesta Ikon (1.6-liter 90 hp engine), made with Indian components, began
in December 2000. Since 1999 a 3-door Focus ZX3 hatchback (2.0-liter 130-136 hp) has been
produced, and since 2001 - a 5-door Focus ZX5 hatchback (2.0-liter 130-136 hp). The Focus was
restyled in 2004. The Fusion sedan, equipped with a 2.3-liter 160 hp or a 3.0-liter 210 hp V6 engine, joined
the company’s program in summer 2005. In the years 1997-2003 the Ford Escort ZX2
coupe was manufactured in Mexico. The production range also includes a wide
family of pick-ups: the old F150 (4.2-liter 210 hp V6) / F250 (4.6-liter 235 hp V8 and the old
F350 / F450 / F550 (5.4-liter 260 hp V8, 6.0-liter 325 hp TD). In 1980-2000 the Mercury vehicles
were produced in Mexico, with the Milan model to be introduced in 2005.
