Established in 1967, Volvo began assembly of the Volvo 144 in February 1968. In production since 1996 the Volvo S40 and V40 were replaced in October 2004 by the new S40 sedan (2.4-liter 170 hp). Since 2001 the S60 sedans have been assembled (2.0-liter 180 hp; 2.3-liter 250 hp). In 2003 the S80 sedans (2.0-liter 180 hp; 2.9-liter 272 hp) and XC90 station wagons (2.5-liter 210 hp; 2.9-liter 272 hp) were introduced. At the end of 2005, the V50 will debut. The firm also assembles Discovery Land Rovers.
