Assembly and production of Nissan models was
launched, respectively in 1968 and 1976 by Edaran Tan
Chong. The current range includes the following models: since November 2001 the Sentra, restyled
in 2003
(= Bluebird
Sylphy 2000)
with a
1.5-liter 103 hp; 1.6-liter 118 hp or 1.8-liter 128 hp engine; since 2001 the Cefiro (=Japanese Cefiro 1998-2002) with V6
units of 2.0 liters and 150 hp (Excimo version)
or 3.0 liters and 200 hp (Brougham
version). Since June 2001 the Serena mini-van has been produced (=Japanese Serena 1999) with 2.0-liter 145 hp plants and for
many years the large Vanette minivan (=Japanese Vanette Coach 1986-94) with 1.5-liter 82 hp units. In June 2003 the X-Trail,
featuring a 2.0-liter 150 hp or 2.5-liter 180 hp engine, replaced the Terrano
SUV of 1996.
In
January 2004
assembly
of the Frontier Crew Cab pick-up was launched with a TD 2.5-liter 133 hp plant. Edaran Tan
Chong will initiate assembly of the Teana sedan in 2005.
