Assembly volume in Malaysia in 2003 - 436 all-terrain vehicles and 324 pick-ups.

Since 1981 Ford Malaysia (until 2000 known as AMIM) has assembled 5-door Defender estate body

and pick-up vehicles with diesel engines of 2.5 liters and 113 hp or 2.5 liters and 122 hp. In 1999

Swedish Motor launched assembly of the Discovery, which was replaced in June 2005 by the Disco­very 3, featuring 4.4-liter 295 hp V8 or TD 2.7-liter 190 hp V6 plants. In December 2003 the Freelan-der station wagon was introduced, fitted with 2.5-liter 177 hp V6 or TD 2.0-liter units.
