Assembly volume in Malaysia in 2003 - approx. 8,000 vehicles.

Founded in March 2001 the Oriental-Hyundai Sdn Bhd joint venture (60% Oriental Holdings, 40% Hy­undai) launched assembly of the Elantra sedan and hatchback in August 2001 in the Oriental Assem­blers factory, fitted with a 1.8-liter 132 hp engine. In February 2002 the Sonata with a 2.0-liter 133 hp unit joined the assembly line, followed by a 2.4-liter 150 hp plant in 2003. At the end of 2003 assem­bly of sedans and the 5-door Accent hatchback was initiated with a 1.5-liter 124 hp engine. In 2005 Oriental Assemblers began assembling the Qirui QQ and B14 models.
