Express vans. Established in 1959, in the years from 1962 to December 2003 the company
manufactured Fiat cars, from 1962 to 1985 they also produced Simca cars and in the 1970s Opel vehicles.
The range of makes assembled at present includes: Renault (since 1966), Peugeot (since 1980) and Citroën (since 1986).
In the 1980s 20% of SOMACA shares belonged to
Fiat, 20%
to PSA,
8% to Renault and 38% to the government of
Morocco. In 2003 Renault took over 26% of the governmental shares and in 2005 the remaining 12%. In 2001 the company ceased
to assemble the Renault Express. At present they release the Renault Kangoo
passenger car and utility vehicles: Kangoo Express, Citroën C15, Citroën Berlingo (since 2000) and Peugeot Partner
(since 2000).
In 2005 they launched the
production of the Dacia Logan sedan.
