Established in April 1911, the Kaishinsa Co. presented its
first prototype of the DAT in 1912. The low series production of the third generation of
the DAT car started in 1914. The name of the company changed several times, and in
June 1934
Nissan
Motor Co. was founded. In the years 1931-32, the cars bore the name Datson,
and in the years 1932-83 - Datsun. Simultaneously, since 1937, cars under the Nissan name have been produced.
The concern took over several rival companies: Jitsuyo Jidosha (in 1926), Minsei (in 1960), Prince (in 1966) and Cony (in
1967). In March 1999, Renault bought 36.8% of Nissan shares (in
2002, this figure
increased
to 44.4%). Since 2002, 15% of Renault shares
has belonged to Nissan. In 2003, Nissan and the Dongfeng Motor Corporation founded the 50% / 50% Dongfeng Motor Co.
Ltd., which continues to produce Nissan passenger cars and Dongfeng utility
cars in China. At present, Nissan produces passenger cars in: Japan, China
(under the Zhengzhou Nissan make since 1982, under the Yunbao make in the
years 1997-2000,
under
the Feng-shen make in the years 2000-2002, under the Nissan make since 2002), the USA (since 1983), Great Britain (since
1986), Spain (since 1983), Mexico (since 1961), Brazil (since 2003), Taiwan (since 1959 under the You Long /
Yulon make, since 1992 under the Nissan make), in Thailand (since 1962), Malaysia (since 1968), the Philippines
(since 1972),
Indonesia
(since 1969),

Africa (since 1959). The pick-ups are produced / assembled in: Japan, the USA, Thailand, Mexico,
Brazil (since 2002), South Africa, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia (since 2003), Zimbabwe, China,
Sudan and Egypt. In addition, under the Nissan license, Samsung (Korea) and
Pars Khodro-Nissan (Iran - since 2002) limousines, and Zamyad and Pars Khodro pick-ups in
Iran have been produced.
