Production volume in Iran in 2003 -3,309 passenger vehicles
and 6,449
pick-ups.
Iran Khalidj Co. was established in 1952 and started the production of 3-wheel Mazda
pick-ups in 1959, followed in 1971 by the Mazda 1000 Pick-up, and in 1984 by the Mazda B-series pick-ups, currently called B
2000 and available with a
2.0-liter 88 hp engine (Iranian component share - 75%). In 1971 the firm change its
name to Mazda Manufacturing Factory, in 1984 to Iran Vanet, and in 1998 to Bahman Group. The
assembly of 323 sedans, produced in Japan in 1994-98, was launched in 1998. A new 323 Mazda (1.6-liter 110 hp engine; Iranian
components’ share - 45%), known on worldwide
markets since 1998, was presented in 2000 and restyled in 2003.
