PREMIER SIGMA
Program: Sigma, Roadstar
pick-up.
Established in 1944, the company launched in 1947 the assembly, and
subsequently, the production of Dodge, De Soto and Plymouth passenger cars and
trucks. In 1951 the Fiat 500 expanded the company's model range, and in 1954 - the Fiat 1100 Millecento. In the
years 1964-2001
the
Padmini sedan was manufactured (based on the Fiat 1100 Speciale / 1100 D made in 1960-66), which was originally
christened the Fiat 1100 Delite. In 1972 its name was changed to the Premier President (the first model to be
marketed under the brand name of Premier), and in 1973 it became the Premier Padmini.
In the years 1985-1998 the company produced the 118 / 138D model based on the Fiat 124. Under the license agreement
signed in 2000 with the Taiwan company China Motor Corp. (Mitsubishi), the Indian
Premier company launched the production of the 7-seat Varica minivans and
pick-ups. The vehicles, which come with Hindustan Isuzu 2.0-liter 58 hp diesel engines,
were christened Sigma and Roadstar. The company intends to reach a production
volume of 12,000 vehicles of these models annually.
