Production volume in 2003 - 16,791 passenger tricars and 32,951 utility 3-wheelers. Greaves company, which in the years 1995-98 produced the Garuda 3-wheeler, in 1998 formed a 49%-51% alliance with Piaggio - Piaggio Greaves Vehicles Ltd. Later, Piaggio became a 100% owner of the company and changed its name to Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. In August 1999 the company launched in Baramati the production of the Ape D 3 S passenger 3-wheeler and the Ape D 600 pick-up (with a 395-ccm 8 hp diesel unit), made entirely of Indian components. In 2005 the program is to be extended with the introduction of a 4-wheel model - the Porter.
