Models produced in India:
Lancer, Pajero.
Production volume in 2003 - 2,991 vehicles. In June 1998 Hindustan launched
the Mitsubishi Lancer MG4 (made in Japan in the years 1996-2000) at the new
production facility Tiruvallur in Tamil. In 2001 they introduced the Lancer
Luxury version with a new front. In March 2003 the company started to release
all Indian Lancer versions with this new body stylization. Since 2004 the company's
product range has included four Lancer versions - LX, XL, LE and SFX, with
different front ends. The cars come with the following engines: 1.5-liter 87 hp, 1.8-liter 122 hp petrol and
2.0-liter 68 hp (155-175 km/h) diesel plants. In September 2003 the company launched the
assembly of the 5-door, 6-seat Pajero SUV with a 2.8-liter 118 hp diesel engine. It
is identical to the Japanese Pajero Classic, launched in 1991.
