Established in 1945, in 1947 the company launched the
assembly of the CJ 2 jeeps
based on the Willys Jeep CJ 2. In 1949 the model was replaced by the CJ 3 (most components
were made in India), and in 1953 it gave way to the CJ 3B. In 1975 the company introduced the CJ 500 with International
Harvester diesel engines, in 1983 the CJ 4 / CJ 500 with a Peugeot diesel unit, in 1986 the D CJ 340 / CJ 540 with a
modernized
front, in 1991 the Commander 650, and in 2004 the Major. This series (since 1995 called the CL), boasting a body resembling
the
American Willys/Kaiser Jeep CJ 3B from 1953-64, subdivides into the
following models: CL Classic (a short-bodied, open 4-seater), CL 340 / CL 500 / Major (an open
6-seater), CL 550 (an open, stretched 8-seater), Commander 650 (a long-bodied, 10-seat cabrio

liter 62 hp or Peugeot D 1.9-liter 68 hp diesels). Another
group of cars includes vehicles based on the Willys/Kaiser / Jeep CJ 5 / CJ 6 / CJ 7 from the years 1955-86. These are: MM

series is fitted with diesel engines based on Peugeot power plants: 2.1-liter 62 hp, 2.5-liter 72-76 hp and 2.5-liter 50-55-
58 hp; also with a CNG
2.1-liter 68 hp petrol-gas engine or with the following two petrol engines: a 2.1-liter 94 hp and an Isuzu 1.8-liter 84 hp
unit. In the
years 1993-2001
the
company made the Armada station wagon, and in the years 1998-2001 - the Armada Grand
(unveiled in 1996). The models were replaced in 2001 with the 10-seat MaXX station wagon (2.5-liter 58 hp) and the 9-seat
MaXX-LX station wagon (2.5-liter 58 hp) with a radically restyled body, as compared to the
MM series. In September 2003 the range expanded with the introduction of the MaXX
Pick-up with a D 2.5-liter 58 hp unit. At the 2000 New Delhi Motor Show, the
company demonstrated the 4-seat Quadro with 1.8-liter 84 hp or D 2.5-liter 72-76 hp engines (an open
vehicle or station wagon) and the 7 /8-seat, 5-door Armada Grand LX station wagon. The
latter went into production in summer 2000 and was christened the Bolero GLX/LX; since 2003 it has been called

with the following engines: 2.0-liter 115 hp, D 2.5-liter 71 hp, D 2.5-liter 72-76 hp and TD 2.0-liter 87 hp. In 2000 the

front copied from the Bolero. Since the beginning of 2002, the Bolero Double Cab and
Utility Export with a D 2.5-liter 58 hp engine have been marketed in India as the
Bolero Camper. In June 2002 the company launched the production of a completely
new station wagon, the Scorpio, unveiled in 1998 (since 2003 exported as the Goa) with the
following engines: Renault 2.0-liter 116 hp, TD 2.6-liter 103 hp and TD 2.6-liter 109-115 hp. In March 2003 the 7 /8-seat
Bolero
Invader Soft Top had its debut, equipped with a D 2.5-liter 58-61 hp unit or a Peugeot
D 2.5-liter 72 hp engine. Under license agreement with the South African SAMCOR, in 1997 the company launched
the production of the big, 8-seat Voyager minivan, based on the old Mitsubishi
L300, fitted with a D 2.5-liter 72 hp engine. In 1999 the 10-seat Bijlee tricar had
its premiere (housing an electric 5.8-7.8 hp motor and since 2002 also CNG and LPG
