FIAT PALIO

Palio, Petra, Palio Adventure.
Production volume in 2003 - 7,616 vehicles.
In the years 1951-72 Premier company
assembled, and later also manufactured, Fiat 500, 1100 Millecento, 100 Select and 1100 Delite models. In
April 1996
Premier
brought out the Uno model under the Fiat brand name (since 2000 with a 1.2-liter 62 hp engine; since 1998 with a 1.7-liter 57
diesel unit). In 1997 Fiat (51%) and Premier (49%) brought their
business under one corporate roof - Fiat India Automobiles, which in 1999 launched production
at the facility in Ranjangaon. Since 2001 the company has been owned by Fiat India
Automobiles Private Ltd. concern, which, in turn, is owned by the Italian Fiat.
The Siena, launched in 1999, was replaced in 2002 by the updated Siena and in
April 2004
by the
modernized Petra sedan with a 1.6-liter 100 hp unit or a 1.9-liter 63 hp diesel engine.
Launched in 2000, the Siena Weekend was replaced in 2002 by the restyled Palio Weekend
and the cross-country model Palio Adventure (1.6-liter 100 hp and since 2003 - 1.9-liter 63 hp diesel). In 2001 the new Palio
was
released, of which 90% is made of locally-produced components (1.2-liter 72 hp, 1.6-liter 100 hp and since 2003 – 1.9-liter
63 hp diesel). In 2006 the Fiat Panda will be launched
in India.
