Production volume in Italy in 2003 - 8,008 vehicles (including
the Piaggio and utility versions). Established by Daihatsu (with a 49% share) and Piaggio (51% share) in 1991, the P & C
company started the
production of the Hijet minivan in December 1992, further modernized in 1998. The vehicle comes
with a 1.0-liter 48 hp power plant or a 1.2-liter 35 hp diesel by Lombardini (maximum speed - 119 and 110 km/h,
respectively).
A more recent generation of the model is produced in Japan.
