In 1912, Giovanni Bertone founded a company which designed and manufactured hundreds of beautiful and innovative car bodies. Under the Bertone brand, the following cars were also pro­duced: the 850/Racer (1965-72), the Ritmo Cabrio (1982-87), the X1/9 (1982-88), the Freeclimber (1989-95). Since August 1999, the firm has produced the Opel Astra II Coupe, and since 2001 - the Astra II Cabrio. At the 2002 Geneva Motor Show, the Novanta SKF concept car was presented, at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show - the Birusa concept car based on the BMW Z8 with a 4.9-liter 400 hp V8 engine, and at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show - the Villa minivan concept car. At the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, Bertone showed the Jet2 coupe based on the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish with a 5.9-liter 466 hp plant, to be produced in a limited series of 25 vehicles.
