In September 1992 Toyota started the British
production of the Carina E, which in 1997 was replaced with the new Avensis model in three
body versions: a sedan, a hatchback, and a station wagon. In 1998 the British Corolla
Liftback was added, replaced with the new Corolla 3d and 5d hatchback in 2001. Production of II
generation Avensis started in January 2003.
