356 SPORTS NEW SPEEDSTER
Program: New Speedster, 130 Spyder, Sprint,
Peregrine.
In August 2004 the newly-founded 356 Sports company took
over the production of the New Speedster, 130 Spyder and Sprint models from
Paul Banham. Manufactured since 2002, the New Speedster resembles the Porsche 356 Speedster (1954-58), and is adapted to
the chassis and engines of the Austin/Rover Metro of 1980-98. The 130 Spyder roadster (a
replica of the Porsche 550 Spyder of1953–55) on the chassis of
the Skoda 105 / 120 / 130 / 136 / Estella / Rapid Coupe (1976-90) and with a Skoda 1.2- liter 52 hp engine, a Skoda 1.3-liter
62 hp unit, or an Audi 1.7-liter engine, debuted
in 1997.
Manufactured
since 1998,
the
Sprint is a copy of the Austin Healey Sprite roadster (1958-61) on the chassis of
the Mini Classic provided with a 1.0- liter 40 hp or a 1.3- liter 60-72 hp plant. In March 2005, the 356 Sports presented the
Peregrine
roadster. It is a replica of the Bentley 31.2-liter Vanden Plas, adapted
to the chassis of the London Taxi with a BMW or a Nissan 2.8-liter diesel
engine.
