Ettore Bugatti, in the years 1898 - 1909 designed nine cars
for: Prinetti & Stucchi, De Dietrich, Mathis and Deutz. In 1909 he constructed a prototype of
the model named 10. There were 7,950 luxurious sport cars built in the years 1910 - 1956, in the factory
located
in Molsheim, France. A total of 139 vehicles of Bugatti
EB 110 were built in Italy
between 1991
and 1995 by Romano Artioli.
In 1998
Volkswagen
bought the rights to the Bugatti mark and in December 2000 established Bugatti Automobiles
SAS in Molsheim. VW presented the following Bugatti prototypes: Paris 1998 - EB 118,
Geneva 1999 – EB 218, Frankfurt/Main 1999 – EB 18/3 Chiron, Tokyo 1999 - EB 18/3 Veyron and Paris 2000 - EB 16.4 Veyron.
The final
version of the EB 16.4 Veyron was presented in Geneva in 2001 and has been produced since May
2005. Bugatti is now
preparing a new model of this type with a 1100 hp engine.
