Daewoo Motor Egypt, a partnership formed in 1997 between Daewoo (60% of the shares) and
the Egyptian company AFE (40%), initiated the assembly of the Lanos sedan in 1998. In 2000 the Nubira II sedan
was introduced, equipped with a 1.6-liter 106 hp engine, and the Lanos was replaced by the
Lanos II sedan, fitted with a 1.5-liter 94 hp unit. In the years 1998-2002 the company manufactured
the Leganza model and, between 2001 and 2002, the Lanos II Juliet. At present, 45% of the components
used for the production are Egyptian made.
