AMG G 55 V8 KOMPRESSOR
and butter since 1967. On January 1, 1999 DaimlerChrysler
acquired a 50,001% controling interest in AMG, currently known as Mercedes AMG. This share
increased to 100% in January 2005. The 2001 Frankfurt/Main Motor Show featured debutes by the new SL 55 (5.4-liter 500 hp; 0
to 100 km/h in 4.7 s). In 2002 new models were
added, including: a new S 65 (V12 6.0-liter 612 hp, 250 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.4 s), the new S 55 (V8 5.4-liter 500 hp, 250
km/h, 4.8 s), the E 55 (5.5-liter 476 hp; 250 km/h; 0-100 km/h in 4.8 s) and the CL 55 (5.4-liter 500 hp, 250 km/h, 4.8 s).
In Geneva in 2003 the CL 65 (V12 6.0-liter 612 hp, 250 km/h, 4.4 s)
debuted, followed in Frankfurt/Main during that same year by the E 55T
(5.4-liter 476 hp, 4.8 s). Novelties at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show included: the new SLK 55 (5.4-liter 360 hp, 250 km/h, 4.9
s), C 55/C 55T (5.4-liter 367 hp, 250 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.4 s) and a
modernized G 55 Kompressor (5.4-liter 354 hp, 210 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.6 s). In 2004 the CLK DTM (V8 5.5-liter 582 hp; 320
km/h; 0-100 km/h in 3.9 s), SL 65 (V12 6.0-liter 612 hp; 250 km/h; 0-100 km/h in 4.2 s) and CLS 55 (5.5-liter 476 hp; 250
km/h; 0-100 km/h in 4.7 s) were introduced.
