ALPINA B5 TOURING
Program: B3S (coupe, cabrio,
Touring station wagon), B5 (sedan, Touring station wagon), B7, Roadster S.
Since 1961 the company handles BMW tuning and, starting in 1978, the cars modernized
here bear the Alpina trademark. These vehicles have engines with greater power,
slightly modernized bodies, sporty suspension systems and luxury interiors. At
the Geneva Motor Show in 1999 the B3 3.3 sedan debuted, based on the BMW 3 Series (E46), while
Frankfurt/Main hosted the premiere of the B3 3.3 Coupe in the same year. The B3 3.3 Touring model was
presented for the first time in Geneva in 2000, the B3 3.3 Cabrio in Birmingham in 2000 and the B3 3.3 Allroad sedan /
Touring station
wagon in 2001
in
Geneva. These models were replaced in 2003 by a restyled B3S series featuring an R6
3.3-liter 305 hp unit (top speed of 259-271 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 6.6-5.4 s). The 2003 Geneva Motor Show hosted the debute of
the B7 sedan
(V8 4.4-liter 500 hp, 300 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.9 s) styled after the BMW 7, and the 2003 Frankfurt/Main Motor Show witnessed
the premiere of
the Roadster S with R6 3.3-liter 300 hp engines (265-270 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.3 s). The first Alpina
B5, based on the current BMW 5-Series, was presented at the Geneva Motor Show
in 2005
and
featured a 4.4-liter 500 hp V8 (300-314 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.9-4.7 s). Prices: B3S from EUR 48,800; B7 from EUR 111,000.
