Schnitzer has tuned engines, suspensions and
exhaust systems since 1964 as well as bodies since the 80s. In 1987 the new company AC Schnitzer
was established. At the 2002 Essen Motor Show, its exhibits included: the Mini (1.6-liter 193 hp, 235 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.5
s), ACS3 Sport (BMW
M3); followed by the following models in Geneva in 2003: Z4 C30 (3.0-liter 295 hp); in
Frankfurt/Main

2003: a prototype of the V8 Topster (based on the BMW
Z4, V8 5.0-liter 450 hp, 305 km/h, 4.5 s), ACS4 (BMW Z4, 3.0-liter 295 hp), ACS3 Coupe/Cabriolet restyling (among
others with a 3.0-liter 295 hp, 265 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.6 s or TD 3.0-liter 245 hp plant of 248 km/h and 6.7 s). In 2004
Geneva was the site
of these models’ debute: the X3 (D 3.0-liter 245 hp); in 2004: the ACS5 Touring
(BMW 5 Touring), ACS1 (BMW 1), Mini Cabriolet (1.6-liter 193 hp), ACS6 Cabriolet
(BMW 6 Cabriolet), and
finally in Geneva in 2005 the ACS3 (BMW 3-E90) premiered.
