Program: Audi, Seat, Skoda and
VW tuning.
On the market since 1896, Abt launched a modern series of
Volkswagens in the 1960s and is currently the largest VW tuner (with 2,000 tuned vehicles annually). In
addition to aesthetic changes to the body (front and rear spoilers, widened
side sills, alloy wheels) and the introduction of new interior equipment,
modifications in the suspension, braking and exhaust systems as well as power boosts
for the engine are also available. In Essen in 2002 the firm presented its own
versions, including: the VW Touareg, Audi AS4 Cabriolet (3.0-liter 290 hp), RS6 Avant (505 hp), TT-Limited II
(T 1.8-liter 265 hp), A8 AS4
Kompressor (3.0-liter 290 hp), VW Phaeton (6.0-liter 420 hp, 280 km/h). In 2003 the range was
expanded to include the Audi S4 Plus Avant (4.2-liter 344 hp) and AS8 Kompressor (V8
4.2-liter 450 hp, 288 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.7 s). At the Frankfurt/Main Motor Show in 2003, Abt introduced: the Audi A3S
(TD 1.9-liter 130 hp), VW Golf VS4 (TD
2.0-liter 170 hp), VW Touareg VS10 (TDI V10 5.0-liter 373 hp), Sporting Van (VW T5 with aTD 2.5-liter 195 hp engine). New
releases in 2004 included the AS6 Plus (505 hp), A8 TDI (4.0-liter 330 hp, 275 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 5.7 s) and in Essen
during the same year, the Audi AS3 Sportback (TDI 2.0-liter 170 hp), AS4 (TDI
2.0-liter 140 hp), AS6 (TDI 265 hp, 247 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 6.9 s), Golf V GTI (2.0-liter 230 hp), VW New Beetle Ca-brio
(turbo 1.8-liter 225 hp, 214 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 8.4 s), Golf V FSI and
Seat Altea (TDI 2.0-liter 170 hp). In 2005 the following vehicles debuted: the VW Golf GTI
(2.0-liter 230 hp, 241 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 6.7 s), the AS8 on the basis of the Audi A8 (4.2-liter 450 hp, 288 km/h, 0-100
km/h in 5.9 s), the new VW
Passat and the AS6 Avant based on the Audi A6 Avant (265 hp).
