Production volume in the Czech Republic in 2003 -424,299 passenger cars.
Two years after it was established in 1896, Laurin & Klement started
producing motorcycles. In 1901 the first two prototype cars were manufactured and in 1905 the production of
the Type A model was launched. In the years 1905-1925 the cars were
offered under the brand name of Laurin & Klement and in the years 1925-1929 as the Skoda Laurin &
Klement make. In 1923 the arms factory Skoda launched
the production of Skoda luxury cars based on the Hispano Suiza H6. In 1925 Skoda concern was
taken over by Laurin&Klement. In 1928 the first, original Skoda models 4R and 6R were
released. In 1929 the brand name was shortened to Skoda. In 1991 VW bought 31% of Skoda shares,
which was subsequently increased at the beginning of 1994 to 50.5%, in December 1994 to 60.3%, in 1995 to 70% and finally in
2000 to 100%. Skoda passenger cars
are currently manufactured in the Czech Republic and assembled in Bosnia and
Herzegovina (since 1998),
Ukraine (since 2001), India (since 2001), Kazakhstan (since 2005) and Angola (since 2005). Latest premieres:

Yeti. Since October 2004 the old Octavia has been offered as Octavia Tour. Plans for the future: 2005 - Octavia II sedan 4x4
/ RS; 2006 -small car based on
the concept car Roomster. In 2002 Skoda operated production facilities in four
countries, with a total production of 434,745 vehicles.
