African Ford launched the assembly of the Volvo S40 sedan in 2000, and of the V40 station wagon in May 2001. These vehicles were replaced by the new S40 and V50 (2.4-liter 170 hp; 2.5-liter 220 hp or TD 2.0-liter) in October 2004.
