In 1962,
Ford
started the assembly of Falcon sedan vehicles in Venezuela. Since February 2004, the Ford Ka, powered
by a 1.6-liter 95 hp engine, has been assembled. In 2002 a new, 5-door Fiesta (known in
Europe since 2001) debuted, equipped with a 1.6-liter 97 hp power plant. The old version’s production ended in 2004. In
November 2003, the assembly of the
Focus powered by a 2.0-liter 130 hp engine started, and in July 2003 - of the EcoSport SUV
vehicle with a 1.6-liter
97 hp unit. In 2001, the old Explorer was
replaced by the Explorer II 4x2 / 4x4 (V8 4.6-liter 240 hp) - the car identical to its
American archetype from 2000. The production program also includes pick-ups: the
Ranger (2.3-liter 135 hp, 4.0-liter 207 hp) and the F150 (4.2-liter 210 hp, 5.4-liter 260 hp). In the years 1999-2003 the
Ford Laser was
produced. In 1999-2003 Ford also produced Mazda vehicles in Venezuela.
