Toyota assembled passenger cars in Canada in the
years 1969-79.
Corolla
production started here in November 1988, replaced by the II generation in 1992, III generation in 1997, and IV generation in
2002. The sedan with a 1.8-liter 130 hp engine is produced
in Canada only. The model also has a different body than the Corolla produced
in Turkey (the Japanese version is different as well). The Cam-ry Solara was
produced from 1998 to 2003 in Canada only. The Corolla Matrix minivan with 1.8-liter 123-130-170 hp engines, first
presented at the 2001 Detroit Motor Show and restyled in September 2004, has been produced since January
2002 in Canada only.
