Production volume in the USA in 2003 - 450,563 passenger cars and 71,856 pick-ups. Nissan
North America Inc. has been selling Nissan cars in the USA since September 1960. In April 1983, at the Nissan
production plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, the production of the Nissan Pickup was
started, and its third generation, under the Frontier name, was launched in 1997. In the years 1985-99 four consecutive
generations of the Sentra sedan were produced in the USA. In 1999, the production of
this model was relocated to Mexico. In May 2003, a second Nissan plant in
Canton, MS started the production of the Quest III minivan. In the years 1992-2002, Ford produced Quest
