Production volume in the USA in 2003 - 213,769 vehicles. Cadillac
represents the most luxurious and prestigious models made by General Motors
Company. In July 1899, through the initiative of Henry Ford, the Detroit Automobile Company
was established, which during the next three years constructed a few prototypes
under the Detroit make. In 1901 Henry Ford left, and in August
1902 the name of the company was changed to the
Cadillac Automobile Co. In September 1902 the company presented, and in March 1903 introduced into
production, the first Cadillac - the A Runabout model. In 1905 the name of the
company was changed to the Cadillac Motor Car Co. In July 1909 the company was
taken over by General Motors. In 1916 the name of the company was changed to the Cadillac Motor
Car Division. Cadillac vehicles are produced in the USA, Mexico (since 2001), China (since 2004) and Sweden (from 2006).
