In 1968 Fiat signed a license agreement with Tofas. At
present, 37.9%
of
Tofas shares are owned by Fiat. In February 1971 the Tofas 124 Murat was launched.
It went out of production in 1976, to be released again in the years 1983-94, this time with the
Tofas Serce badge. In 1977 the Fiat 131 was launched as the Murat 131, and since 1981 it has been released
in three versions: as the Sahin sedan (1.4-liter 72 hp or 1.6-liter 80 hp; 162-165 km/h), the luxury Dogan sedan (1.6-liter
80 hp; 170 km/h) and the Kartal
station wagon (1.6-liter 80 hp; 168 km/h). Since 2002 all these models have been manufactured only for
export. In 1998 the company released the Siena, Palio and Palio Weekend (for
the first time under the Fiat brand name),
replaced in 2002 by the modernized Albea sedan and Palio hatch, with a broad selection of
engines: 1.2-liter 60 hp, 1.2-liter 80 hp, 1.6-liter 103 hp, turbo 1.2-liter 70 hp, and in the Palio
Sporting version - 1.6-liter
120 hp. In the years 1999-2002 the Brava model was
built in Turkey, and since 1999 - the Marea sedan (1.6-liter 16V 103 hp; 187 km/h). At the 2000 Paris Motor Show the
minivan Doblo had its premiere, manufactured exclusively in Turkey and exported
to Europe. The vehicle has been fitted with the following petrol engines: 1.2-liter 65-80 hp, 1.6-liter 103 hp, 1.8-liter 103
hp, and the
following diesels: 1.3-liter 70 hp, 1.9-liter 63 hp, and turbodiesel 1.9-liter 105 hp.
