The assembly and, subsequently, production of Isuzu vehicles were initiated in Thailand in 1963 by Isuzu Assembling Plant. Since 1966 the operations have been continued by Isuzu Motors Co. (Thailand). In the years 1998-2002 the Vega SUV was manufactured. The Thai Honda produced upon order the Isuzu Vertex sedan between 1996 and 2000. The new MU-7 SUV, fitted with a TD 3.0-liter 147 hp engine, premiered in November 2004. In 2002 the old Dragon / Rodeo / Spark pick-up was replaced with the following models (restyled in October 2004): the 5-seat D-Max Cab 4 / D-Max Hi-Lander 4x2 / 4x4 (TD 3.0-liter 145 hp), the 2+2 D-Max Spacecab 4x2 (D 2.5-liter 79 hp, TD 3.0-liter 145 hp) / D- Max Rodeo 4x4 (TD 3.0-liter 145 hp) and the 2-seat D-Max Spark (D 2.5-liter 79 hp, TD 3.0-liter 145 hp). For export the pick-ups are equipped with a broad selection of the follo­wing engines: 2.5-liter, 3.5-liter 200-272 hp, TD 2.5-liter 101 hp and TD 3.0-liter 131 hp.
