FORD RANGER DOUBLE CAB
Models produced in Thailand:
Everest, Ranger / Courier pick-up (Double Cab, Super Open Cab, Super Cab,
Standard); models produced on the Philippines: Laser Tierra, Escape.
Production volume in Thailand in 2003 - 4,131 passenger vehicles
and 43,037
pick-ups.
Thai Motor Co., renamed Ford Thailand in 1973, assembled Ford cars in the
years 1961-76.
In the 1980s and 90s Ford models were
manufactured by Sukosol and Mazda Motor. In 1995 Ford and Mazda formed the
AutoAlliance (Thailand) partnership (each with a 45% stake), which began the production
of a completely new Ranger and a Mazda B conversion in May 1998. The latter, a
pick-up restyled in 2002, is available as a 2/2+2/5-seat vehicle, with a selection of the
following engines:
2.6-liter 125 hp, 4.0-liter 209 hp V6, diesel
2.9-liter 102 hp, TD 2.5-liter 84-90 hp and TD 2.5-liter 109-116-121 hp (4x2 / 4x4). It is exported to
Europe, Asia, Oceania (as the Courier) and Africa. At the Bangkok Motor Show in
March 2003
the
7-seat Everest SUV premiered, with 4x2 or 4x4 drive and a 2.6-liter 124 hp or a TD 2.5-liter 121 hp power plant.
