Originally, BMW cars were assembled by Yontrakit Motor Co. in the years 1973-2003. BMW (Tha­iland) Co., established in 1998, launched the production of the 318i / 323i / 330i sedans in May 2000. These were replaced by 320i / 330i sedans of the latest (fifth) BMW 3 generation in 2005. The 735 L sedan (3.6-liter 272 hp) has been included in the product range since October 2002, and the 730 L (3.0-liter 219 hp) - since August 2003. In April 2004 Thailand initiated the production of the follo­wing model 5 sedans: 520i (2.2-liter 170 hp), 525i (2.5-liter 189 hp) and 530i (3.0-liter 231hp). BMW vehicles incorporate an average of 45% locally-produced components.
