Under the agreement of 1997, in 1998 a partnership was established between the mayoralty of Moscow (50% of the shares) and Renault (the remaining 50%), known as OAO Avtoframos. On part of the premises of the Moskvich production plant, the firm assembled in the years 1999-2000 the Megane Classic and the 19 model, and in the years 2002-2004 - the Symbol sedan. In October 2004, Renault increased its share in the company to 76%. In May 2005 assembly started on the Renault Logan with 1.4-liter 75 KM or 1.6-liter 70 hp engines, for the time being incorporating 20% Russian parts.
